This variety of opacities is common across manufacturers and treatment styles. Whether you choose a roller shade, a roman shade or pleated shade, you will have the ability to control the amount of light your treatments filter.
Regardless of the manufacturer, the various fabric transparencies in the solar shade line are grouped by percentage. The higher the %, the greater the opacity/transparency or the greater the light transference. The lower the %, the greater the privacy
Some people like to purchase dual roller shades to have a highly transparent screen that blocks out UV’s and heat and another blackout shade for total privacy at night. Other people don’t have the need for privacy but do have a preference on the amount of light they would like to filter. Whatever the situation, solar fabrics allow you to choose the level of light filtering and privacy, depending on your needs.

A decorative mounting surface designed to support blinds and shades in an arch or angled window.
Valance
Valances are a popular decorative choice in concealing drapery hardware. Depending on the manufacturer, valances can be fabric wrapped, wood, metal or plastic. They also come in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the treatment style.
Hem Bar
The hem bar is located at the bottom of the treatment fabric and is typically composed of PVC or metal that matched the valance or hardware color. Some manufacturers offer fabric wrapped hem bars that match the treatment fabric.
